The 1st snorkel spot was Molokini. Molokini is a volcanic cinder cone that has eroded over the ages. Now the island is a Marine Life Conservation District Seabird Sanctuary, and a world-class dive location. Located 3 miles off the shores of Maui, it is famous for having incredibly clear water with visibility exceeding 100 feet almost every day. Its also popular for their thousands of brightly colored tropical fish and it is possible to see monk seals, whale sharks, manta rays, spotted eagle rays and harmless white tip sharks. Molokini is one of the most popular & exotic snorkel & diving sites in the entire world. Aaron and I loved the coral, pretty blue water and all the different fish we saw.
On the boat headed to our snorkel spots
1st stop ahead, Molokini
Molokini snorkel spot
About to get in their with those black fish, I was nervous!
If you look close you can kind of see the coral
See the coral?
2nd stop was Turtle Town. When you hear about great snorkeling in Maui, you often hear about Turtle Town. Turtle Towns location is widely disputed. Turtles are all over the island. There are a few spots that turtles tend to concentrate in specifically. So there are more than one Turtle Towns because the turtles are not fixed in place. This spot Aaron and I loved! We saw several big turtles and several Eagle Rays. I wasn't aware we would see Rays so when I first saw one I panicked thinking it was bad but a lady snorkeling with us (that works on the boat) wasn't concerned so I guessed it was ok. The Eagle Rays were bigger then me so it was kind of scary especially when one swam right under me.
We did it! We snorkeled with out freaking out too bad. We both had our moments where we freaked out a little but we loved it.
Going back we saw several turtle swimming in the ocean
Our take home picture to remember our snorkel trip. ALSO....we bought a underwater disposable camera and took lots of pictures but we just haven't developed them yet.
