Cabin getaway

One week my sister Sara and I went up to the cabin with our kids for a little get away. It was a nice little vacation from the heat and the kids just love to play for hours outside. Our kids are the same age so they love to play together and there is lots to do at the cabin.

One day we went shopping in Showlow and Pinetop. The kids loved this chair so we took some pictures of them in it.

Hayden's new BIG bike

Hayden was outgrowing his bike and really needed something bigger. But I thought maybe we could delay it and just get him one for his Birthday or Christmas which is both in December and a ways away. But the other day as I was pulling into the garage I could feel I ran over something. I backed up and got out and it was Hayden's back bike tire. He didn't put his bike away like he was supposed to. The tire was really bent and I knew there was no way to fix it. So a few weeks later we ended up going to Walmart and got him a new one. He has been saving money and he had $42 saved. So he used some of his money to pay for the bike. He was excited to get a bigger bike and help pay for it himself.

Father's Day

The Wednesday before Father's day I was at the cabin with the kids and Aaron stayed home. Aaron told me the Bishop called and wanted me to call him that evening. Even though it was 10:00pm and I didn't know if it was too late to call I was still dying to. When the Bishop calls the curiosity gets to me, I have to know what he wants. Well, he asked if I could speak on Father's day. He just needed me to give a 5 minute talk about Father's. I was kind of excited to have this opportunity even though I am always so nervous to talk in church. So when I got home from the cabin I prepared my talk. Even though Aaron knew I was going to talk I never told him about what. In my talk I highlighted Fathers in general and stuff about Aaron. He said he really liked it.

Preparing my talk it got me thinking about what is takes to be an Adoptive Father… Being an adoptive Father is not for every man. He must possess not only the natural Father instinct but an understanding and appreciation of the situation that brought a child into his arms making him a Father. The adoptive family came to be by choices made, choices made by the first parents and by the adoptive parents. Day by day, touch by touch, with each tear, kiss, and memory made they became a family.

This role is not for the weak of spirit, or the easily wounded. Loving a child not born to him but calling him his own, but this is what he does, it is his calling. He is a Father.

Morris Family Reunion

The 1st week of June we went to the Morris Family Reunion. We attend that every year in June and we always look forward to going and having so much fun with our family. We camp at Whiteriver about 8 miles past Pinetop. This year there were over 250 Morris family members who came. We have so many family tradition we all love....its so fun when we all get together. My favorite is watching the Volleyball games and sitting around the camp fire. We had a few exciting things happen while camping. Hayden got stung by a bee. Hayden had a bee go by his ear and he covered his ear freaking out so the bee couldn't get out so it stung him. He screamed and freaked out after he got stung! But he felt better a few hours later. Also while driving to the Fish hatchery I saw something walking across the road. I thought it was a big dog and I asked Aaron "Is that a bear???" We drove up to his faster and it was. It ran off the road to a near by tree and stood up to the tree like it was going to climb it. It stood there a few minutes then walked away. It was so cool to see a real bear out in the forest.

Aunt Cinda made the kids in our family these camping cans. She had them canned so they kids had to open them with can openers. They loved them. It had a flashlight, candy, stuff to make smores and little toys in them.
